Local charities and community projects could benefit from £1,000 as part of a new campaign.

Battery brand VARTA is running a special giveaway aimed at helping these charities and community groups continue their vital work.

To enter, local organisations just need to create a short video highlighting what their organisation does, who is involved and how the funds would support their efforts.

As well as the £1,000 giveaway, there is a further £500 available for the runner up, plus product some product bundles.

The video entry needs to be posted on Instagram, tagging @varta.aguk and using the hashtag #VARTALovesPoweringCommunities, before the deadline on 1 September.

A VARTA spokesperson said: "The campaign is designed to support and empower non-profits and local community groups in Stockport, such as food banks, community gardens and litter clean-up groups."

The campaign is also running in other towns in the UK, so be prepared for a potentially busy contest!

VARTA is headquartered in Germany, but has a branch in Greater Manchester.

Hanifa Choudhury, managing director at VARTA Consumer Batteries UK, said: "We're delighted to announce the launch of our VARTA Loves Powering Communities initiative. Here at VARTA, sustainability is at the core of everything we do and we are committed to developing innovative battery solutions, while working hard to reduce our long-term impact on the planet.

"This campaign reflects our dedication to giving back to the local communities that support us and we aim to empower those who are making a positive impact in their neighbourhoods, fostering a more sustainable and connected future for all."
