Underused land in Hazel Grove set for new lease of life with housing development

Construction continues on eight new dwellings, as part of a small Hazel Grove housing development.

Located on Buxton Road, at the south-eastern tip of Hazel Grove, this development sits on the site of a former Thai restaurant, which closed in 2017.

The site had been vacant for some time, until development began this year.

A planning document argues that the eight houses make "effective and efficient use of a vacant, underused parcel of land within a sustainable location".

The council accepted proposals, on the grounds that the scale of the development would have "no greater impact on the openness of the green belt than existing development on the site."

The planning document continues: "The proposed development is undoubtedly a positive intervention at the site and one which brings with it a sustainable, long-term solution for maximising the efficient use of this brownfield site."

Each of the eight dwellings will have 'generous internal floor areas', as well as private rear gardens and off-street parking.

Six of the eight dwellings are terraced, four-bed, 2.5 storey dwellings. The other two are semi-detached, four-bed, 2.5 storey dwellings.

Vehicular access into the site is to be taken off Buxton Road.
