Traffic signals will be introduced at the junction of Heaton Moor Road, Peel Moat Road, Broomfield Road (near the Elizabethan pub).

The works aim to provide safer crossing for pedestrians and to support cyclists travelling along the quieter Peel Moat and Broomfield Roads.

Works will begin from 27 January, and are expected to last around 10 weeks.

Roads will remain open throughout, with access maintained to all properties. Four way temporary lights will be in place throughout.

There will be some footway closures - pedestrians will be diverted along an alternate path.

The work will be done in small phases, "planned and co-ordinated to manage disruption as much as possible", Stockport Council said.

Shifts will be from 7am-5pm on weekdays, with potentially some weekend work where required. The temporary lights will remain on during shifts, but may be removed when it is safe to do so.

The scheme aims to "support active travel for local trips and provide a safer connection between residential, employment, retail and education facilities", Stockport Council said.
