Three Stockport schools have picked up shortlists for a prestigious education award.

Inscape House, St James' Catholic High, and Stockport Academy have all been shortlisted in the Educate Awards, which is described as "The North West's largest education awards".

Focussing on Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester, the awards aim to recognise the best in teaching in the area.

The awards feature 20 categories, showcasing excellence in everything from sports and arts to literacy and the environment. Winners are decided by an 'esteemed' panel of judges.

Stockport's nominations are as follows:

  • Inscape House School - SEND Provision Award (Specialist School)
  • St James' Catholic High School - Careers & Enterprise Award
  • Gemma Jackson from Stockport Academy - Teacher of the Year

The winners will be announced in a special ceremony at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral on Friday 15 November.

Kim O'Brien, founder of the Educate Awards, said: "Congratulations to the Stockport schools for making this year's Educate Awards shortlist.

"We are continually amazed by the inspiring work that takes in the region's schools and colleges, and this year's shortlist is a testament to the passion and hard work of senior leadership teams, teachers and support staff around the region.

"The quality of the entries we received in 2024 has been exceptional, and we look forward to rolling out the red carpet and celebrating these achievements at the awards ceremony in November."

Best of luck to all the nominees! Thanks for doing Stockport proud.
