The next Kobbie Mainoo could be at your local club – here’s how to support them
England's Kobbie Mainoo may only be 19, but he is quickly becoming a stalwart of the Southgate squad.
And it's a point of pride for locals that this wonderkid started his footballing career at Cheadle & Gatley FC.
The club was founded in 1977, and supports junior football for boys and girls aged 4 to 18. It's one of Stockport's largest amateur clubs, with over 300 players across 13 age groups.
The importance of local clubs and grassroots football needs no explanation - the good news is that residents can support clubs such as Cheadle & Gatley easily thanks to a new project.
The club has teamed up with easyfundraising, an online shopping platform where a portion of your purchase price is given to a local charity or cause - in this case, the club itself.
It means you can support local causes with minimal change to your usual habits. Find out more HERE.
The platform has already raised £7.7 million for similar clubs across the country. Funds raised pay for equipment, coaching, training facilities, and more.
James Moir, easyfundraising's CEO, said: "Grassroots sports clubs are one of the biggest categories of good cause that use our platform to raise funds.
"These clubs have a close-knit community of families, who can each collect cashback donations for their local football clubs when they shop online with more than 8,000 big-name retailers which they are already shopping with.
"Such funding plays a huge role in the success of our national team, who we of course hope will be celebrating a Euros win this summer!"
