The Armoury pub to 're-launch' following year of roadworks disruption
By Alasdair Perry 25th Mar 2026
The Armoury Pub is 're-launching' this month after a year of disruption and restricted access.
The pub, which sits on the Armoury Roundabout, has been affected by the massive engineering works around the Greek Street Bridge.
Managers Pete and Holly have had to operate with restricted pedestrian access ever since March 2025, when engineering works began.
But now, with these works coming to an end on Friday 27 March, the Armoury itself will 're-launch' on the same day from 12pm.
There will also be a re-launch party from 7pm on that day, featuring a DJ, free drinks and goodies, and more.
Further still, the pub has undergone an extensive internal fit-out recently, so customers will be able to enjoy a new environment as they return to this old favourite.
The relaunch party is open to all, with locals encouraged to drop in and celebrate the end of the long‑running works and the return of easier access to The Armoury and the wider Shaw Heath area.
"The reopening of the roundabout feels like a turning point", Pete and Holly said. "It allows the pub to properly reconnect with the community and build momentum again after a difficult year."
Robinsons Brewery, which operates the Armoury, has been supporting the pub throughout what has been a more quiet period.
But with busier times ahead what with the area re-opening to traffic, the owners said 'watch this space'.
