Plans submitted for new Burger King in Stockport town centre
Plans have been submitted for a new drive-thru Burger King opposite Portwood Retail Park.
The new restaurant would be built on currently vacant land, formerly the site of Carpet Right.
If approved, it would be the only Burger King in Stockport, given that former branches have since closed, and the closest sites are now in Manchester city centre.

Work commences on new apartments in Stockport Underbanks
Demolition work has commenced on a row of buildings in Stockport's Underbanks, to make way for 12 new residential apartments.
The site in question is 29-35 Little Underbank - at the intersection where Mealhouse Brow joins the Underbanks, opposite Rare Mags.
The original building dates from the 1970s, and until now has been the site of some boarded up shops.
The new building will comprise 12 dwellings - six of which will be affordable - over five storeys.

Filming for new BBC comedy takes place in Stockport
Filming for the BBC Three comedy 'Daddy Issues' took place in Stockport Underbanks today (Monday 15 January).
Film crews were gathered around the Winters / Alfredo's Social building, with a red Jaguar vehicle and a red carpet arranged for the scene.
A synopsis for the show runs as follows: "The show follows Gemma (Aimee Lou Wood), who lives for the weekend when she can get blasted and party hard in Stockport, Manchester.
"But after joining the mile high club with a random hook-up on her way back from a holiday to Portugal, she's pregnant, and it couldn't come at a worse time."

Sunak says government has invested more in council funding - but local councillors disagree
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has maintained that the government has put more money into funding local councils - but these claims were strongly rejected by Stockport councillors at a meeting on Thursday evening (January 11).
In his visit to Marple last Friday (January 5), Prime Minister Rishi Sunak 'completely rejected' claims that council funding had been cut.
Responding to a question from the BBC, Mr Sunak said: "Over the past few years, we've put more money into council funding - not just in the North West, but across the country."
