Stockport Council invites input from residents for 2024/25 budget
As Stockport Council prepares to finalise its 2024/25 budget, it is inviting feedback from the public.
The council yesterday (15 Nov) opened a public consultation to allow residents to offer feedback on current budget proposals.

New office space in Stockport's Merseyway shopping centre officially opens
The Merseyway Innovation Centre, a new office space in the town centre, officially opened in a ceremony yesterday evening (14 November).
The centre is located on the first floor of Merseyway, above Superdrug and McDonalds. It converts what has been described as failing retail space into high-quality new offices.
The aims are many - to offer accessible office space, provide a place for smaller businesses to grow, and to increase footfall in the town centre.
Seven businesses have already moved in or are in the process of doing so. They range from a travel agent, an employee insight business, and a GP federation.

A shopkeeper at Pound Hut, Hazel Grove, has been fined after he sold an e-cigarette to an underage trading standards volunteer.
Syed Nasir Afzal Shah, of Amafhha Traders Ltd, had failed to ask the child for age identification.
Mr Shah, 54, was also fined a further £3,500 for supplying an e-cigarette without packaging or an information leaflet during the transaction.
Mr Shah had previously entered guilty pleas to all offences on behalf of himself and his company, at Tameside Magistrates Court. The £5,700 fines were reduced to £3,800 to credit the early guilty pleas. However, he was still ordered to pay £1,520 victim surcharge and £2,394.08 in prosecution costs.
