Students will be heading into their schools throughout the morning to pick up their results.

Stockport MP voices support for students

Stockport MP Navendu Mishra also said: "Best of luck to students in Stockport receiving their GCSE results today!

Stockport Council said: "Good luck to everyone receiving their GCSE results today!

"Today can bring a mix of emotions for young people and their families, from excitement and relief to uncertainty about what comes next.

The national picture

The overall GCSE pass rate (grade 4 or above) is down slightly compared to last year, at 67.3 percent.

However, the proportion of top grades (7/A and above) has increased slightly, to 22 percent.
