Stockport's foodie scene has received fulsome praise from a North West food publisher.

In an article in Confidentials, a reviewer described a three-hour tour of the town centre's restaurants as 'delightfully diverse', and 'bustling with flavour and flair'.

In the article, food reviewer Harley Young visited Stockport Gin, Cafe Sanjuan, Alan's Superstore, and Sticky Fingers in Market Hall.

All met with warm praise, as the reviewer cited delicious food, welcoming atmosphere, and customer popularity at all of the eateries.

Speaking of Market Hall, for example, the author said: "Despite many people thinking of traditional markets like this one as a thing of the past, Stockport's Market Hall is continuing to thrive and flourish, selling everything from fresh fruit and veg to artisan cheeses and craft beers."

Still, these selections were "just the tip of the iceberg of what this town's vibrant hospitality scene has to offer", she said. "You'd need a whole month and then some to try it all."

This write up from Confidentials isn't the first time that Stockport's foodie scene has been praised.

Town centre restaurant Where The Light Gets In recently won a prestigious Manchester Food & Drink award, for example. And similarly, Taylor's Fish and Chip shop in Woodley was recognised at the national Fish & Chip awards 2025.

The town's foodie scene has also been hailed in other publications such as The Times and Muddy Stilettos, and The Great British Pub Crawl were similarly enthused about the town centre's watering holes.
