Etherow Country Park will be undergoing repairs and inspections as part of a programme to instil a new lease of life.

A Council-approved investment will see the park get a repaired reservoir, inspected bridges and structures, and tidied up vegetation.

The work programme is expected to last until early 2026, with sections of the park closed for works as and when. However, other parts of the park will remain open.

Vegetation will be reinstated where necessary.

Cllr Grace Baynham, Cabinet Member for Parks, Highways and Transport Services, said: "I know how much our residents love Etherow Country Park and this programme of maintenance will ensure that future generations also enjoy everything that it has to offer.

"While the work takes place there may be areas of the park that are blocked off, and I would ask residents to respect those closures to ensure our teams can carry the work out safely."

"This work needs to happen, and I would like to thank residents for their patience while our teams are on site."

Etherow is one of Britain's oldest country parks, boasting 240 acres replete with around 200 plant species and 100 bird species.

The work is being carried out by Stockport Council contractors under the supervision of the Environment Agency.
