Stockport’s bus network gets boost with new routes and later services
By Alasdair Perry 18th Aug 2026
A string of bus service improvements are coming to Stockport, including new routes, later-running services, and extended connections.
Transport for Greater Manchester has confirmed that local Bee Network services will see these key changes within as little as two weeks.
The improvements include:
- A new 377 service - this will connect Woodford Garden Village with Stockport town centre, and starts running from 1 September.
- A new 192 night bus on Thursdays - this means there will be 24 hour service between Stockport and Manchester on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The changes come into effect from 3 September.
- Changes to the 378 and 379 services (Stockport to Cheadle Hulme circular) from 30 August, improving the local bus network serving communities in the borough.
- Enhanced connections on the 368 between Stockport, Wythenshawe and Manchester Airport, which are expected to follow in early 2027.
Cllr Grace Baynham, Stockport Council's cabinet member for parks, highways and transport, said: "These improvements are positive news for Stockport and will give residents more options for travelling around the borough and across Greater Manchester.
"As chair of the Stockport Bee Network Steering Group, I have worked closely with Transport for Greater Manchester and Bee Network colleagues to improve the network in our borough.
"Through those discussions, I have consistently championed better connections for Stockport residents and made sure that the needs of our communities are represented.
"The new link from Woodford Garden Village, changes to local services and the introduction of a 192-night bus are important steps forward.
"These improvements build on a wider programme of transport investment across Stockport, including enhancements to walking, wheeling, cycling and public transport infrastructure, helping to provide residents with more sustainable and attractive travel choices.
"We will continue working with our partners to advocate for further improvements for residents across the borough."
