The Post Office in Stockport town centre will be relocating to TGJones, formerly WHSmith.

The new location will be a short stroll from where the Post Office is currently based at 36 Great Underbank.

The Post Office is in the process of making 'final arrangements' for the move, with a relocation date due to be announced soon.

The new office will be open from Monday to Saturday, for around 46.5 hours per week.

The opening times will be 9am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday, and 9am-1pm on Saturdays.

TGJones, which separated from WHSmith in June, will be running the new office.

It will be based on the first floor of the store, within a dedicated area to the rear right-hand side.

There will be two open plan serving positions.  Two self-service machines will be available at a later date, however in the interim, an additional temporary serving counter will be provided. 

A Post Office spokesperson explained the move was part of integrating to a 'fully franchised network'.

Over 99 percent of the Post Office network is already operated on a franchise basis by carefully selected retail partners.

A Post Office spokesperson said: "We are confident this would create a long-term, sustainable future for post offices in communities across the UK, including Stockport."
