A weekend of live music | The Spinning Top | Fri 10 - Sun 12 October

The Spinning Top has a huge programme of events running throughout October.

This Friday will see Crisis, a rock and metal outfit bringing the heavy riffs.

Saturday, meanwhile, will see Hilda's Flying Ducks, an indie tribute band playing tunes from The Cure, The Smiths, The Jam, Blondie, The Killers, Oasis, Arctic Monkeys and many more!

And on Sunday, Renee's 'big' party will be taking place from 3pm, open to all and featuring live music.

Carnival of Art | Stockroom / ARC centre / War Memorial Gallery | Sat 11 October

Stockport will host a 'carnival of art' this weekend featuring a parade, exhibitions, and workshops.

Taking place on Saturday 11 October, the carnival will be centred around the town centre's arts venues, including Stockroom, the ARC centre, and the War Memorial Art Gallery.

Events and exhibitions will be running at these locations throughout the day, with the main parade itself set to run from 1.45 to 2.45pm from Stockroom to the War Memorial Gallery.

As for the workshops, they include:

  • A wearable art workshop at Stockroom from 10am-1pm.
  • A Happy Hats workshop at the ARC centre (near the Hat Museum) from 11am-2pm.
  • A self portrait workshop at the war memorial gallery from 12-4pm

And it's completely free to attend!

Pokémon GO Community Day: Solosis | Viaduct Park | Sunday 12 October | 1.30-5pm

Join Stockport & Wythensahwe Pokemon group on Viaduct Park for an afternoon of Pokémon GO; this time featuring Solosis.

They said: "We'll be hosting a free Lucky Dip at 1:30PM with a variety of prizes available to win, supplied by both Niantic and Titan Pops. Then, when the event begins, we'll make our way around the Town Centre, catching Solosis and taking part in any battles along the way.

"The meet is open to both new and old players, so be sure to come along and get the most out of your day.

"And if you check in to our meet via the Niantic Campfire app on Android/iOS, you'll also receive exclusive in-game research - plus be eligible for 20% off any purchases at Cherry's Boba Shop at Suffragette Square."

Sounds from the Silver Screen | Pyramid Concert Orchestra | Sunday 12 October | 3.30pm

Stockport's own 45-piece light orchestra returns to the Plaza stage for a special afternoon of film music from the best musicals, dramas and sci-fi blockbusters. 

Did you know that Charlie Chaplin wrote some great film scores? And, of course, John Williams needs no introduction. Hear them both, and others too - there'll be something in our programme to suit every taste.

Join the Pyramid Orchestra for a memorable afternoon of great live music!
