Stockport railway station could be set for a dramatic makeover in the near future, as plans are submitted for 42 new pieces of artwork to be installed along the Station Road approach to the building.

The artworks would be massively wide-ranging in terms of style, size, theme, and location.

Some are works of photography - others are beautiful paintings of local landmarks, with abstract, impressionist, and classical styles on show, to name a few.

The pieces have been submitted by artists across the borough.

Cllr Matt Wynne, leader of the Edgeley Community Association, said of the plans: "I've been working with the Community Rail Partnership and Arc Centre over the last few years on this project to get some public artwork on the neglected Edgeley Approach down to Stockport Railway Station.

"It's been a truly community effort - there've been some magnificent submissions and I'm very excited for its unveiling at the end of the summer."
