Stockport Pride receives funding grant ‘to make a difference’ in inclusive celebration
By Arundhati Mukherjee 8th May 2026
Stockport Pride 2026 has been awarded a grant from the Zuto Make a Difference Fund in partnership with Forever Manchester.
The £1,250 funding will boost preparations for this year's lively Pride celebrations, which will take place across Stockport on the last weekend of July.
Stockport Pride Chairperson Stephen Bowyer told Stockport Nub News: "The Zuto Make a Difference grant we've been awarded is going to be a massive help for us in putting on Stockport Pride 2026.
"Amongst the expenses that the funding will help with is a BSL interpreter for the acts on stage - to make the event more accessible, and event t-shirts for our volunteers who will be helping us during the weekend."
The festival champions equality, diversity and inclusion for the LGBTQ+ community in Stockport.
On Sunday, July 26, the colourful Pride parade will travel through the town centre, with celebrations continuing in Stockport's historic Market Place with live entertainment, dozens of stalls, a Quiet Space and a Family Space. The event is free and open to all.
As part of the weekend programme, organisers are also hosting a screening of the film Pride at The Plaza Stockport at 7.30pm on Saturday, July 25.
Forever Manchester states: "The Zuto Make a Difference Fund aims to encourage and support grassroots community organisations. This means small, community-based and locally controlled groups that manage themselves, encourage people to get involved as volunteers and who just need a bit of financial help to be able to work with their community in the way they'd like."
The Zuto Make a Difference Fund offered grants of up to £2,500 for grassroots community organisations across Greater Manchester with an annual income of less than £75,000. Applications closed at the end of March.
