Stockport has hit the big screen once again.

One of the town's most iconic landmarks - Stockport Plaza - featured in a trailer for Clayface, a 2026 horror film starring Tom Rhys Harries and Naomi Ackie.

In the trailer, the Plaza was transposed into Gotham City, where it served as the venue for a fictional star-studded ceremony.

Clayface takes place in the DC cinematic universe, and follows the origin story of its eponymous character, famous for being one of Batman's enemies.

The story centres around Matt Hagen, an actor whose face is disfigured, and he turns to a scientist (Ackie) who transforms his body into clay - hence becoming Clayface.

This is far from the first time that Stockport has been used as a filming location for top productions.

The borough is popular for its proximity to key studios and facilities, and for its variety of filming locations - historic streetscapes, urban high-rises, verdant countryside and more.

Stockport Council has estimated that around £6.7m worth of investment has been put into the local economy through the various film and TV productions which have taken place here.

This comes from increasing jobs, boosting tourism, and through direct spending on local services.

Stockport Council has said it aims to be 'film-friendly', working closely with TV and film crews.
