A popular school uniform shop will re-open in Stockport's Merseyway centre this summer.

It will be open in Merseyway's Pop-Up shop from 14-21 August, offering all items for just 50p a piece.

The aim is to make it as easy and cheap as possible for families to "kit out their children ahead of the new school year without breaking the bank".

On offer are uniforms from Stockport-based schools, as well as a few others from further afield.

The stock comes mostly from donations.

Indeed, from now until Monday 10 August, families are encouraged to drop off their unwanted uniform items in a dedicated donation bin, so long as they are clean, reusable and good-quality.

Best of all, the proceeds raised from sales will go towards the local charity Emmie's Kitchen, which provides food to parents of children in hospital.

This will be the fifth iteration of the Uniform Pop-Up shop, which has turned into an annual tradition.

Victoria Nichol, Centre Manager at Merseyway, said: "It's incredible to see how this initiative has grown over the last five years.

"What started as a simple idea has become something the whole community gets behind, with families returning year after year to donate uniforms, shop sustainably and support local charities. It's now become a real back-to-school tradition for Stockport, and we'd love to see even more people get involved this summer."

"School uniforms are only worn for a short time before children outgrow them, so if your child's is still in great condition, why not pass them on? Every donated blazer, jumper, PE kit or pair of shoes could make a real difference to another local family, while also helping reduce clothing waste. It's a small gesture that has a huge impact."

If you'd like to donate, items welcomed by the scheme include: shirts and polo shirts; trousers, skirts, dresses and pinafores; jumpers and cardigans; blazers; PE kits; school shoes; and school bags.

You can find the donation bin in the Merseyway covered mall.
