Stockport Masonic Guildhall is undergoing a complete restoration on its exterior.

The front and side of the buildings will have their stonework completely cleaned, the brickwork repointed, and all the windows will be replaced.

Furthermore, the front garden of the building (facing the A6) will be landscaped and improved. There will also be a new pedestrian entrance off Brentnall Street, plus a disabled ramp.

There will also be new wrought iron fencing along the front of the garden.

The aim is to get the building back to how it would have looked when it was completed in 1868.

The venue will remain open to events as works take place. Upcoming in the calendar is Futureshock Wrestling on Sunday 11 August, and the Mind Body Spirit Event, from 7-8 September.

The scaffolding is expected to be removed in December this year, with works as a whole scheduled for completion in January 2025.

The building originally served as a Sunday School. The Freemasons of Stockport moved in from 1932, and the organisation still holds meetings there.

The building also hosts regular events, from private weddings through to big public festivals.
