Stockport man jailed after stealing war medals, medication and jewellery from 'vulnerable' elderly residents

A man from Stockport has been jailed after a 'brazen' burglary spree which mainly targeted elderly residents.
29-year-old Macorley Collins of Appleby Close was sentenced to 32 months in prison after pleading guilty to 10 offences, which included the theft of war medals, jewellery and medication.
Collins' spree ran between September and December 2025, targeting homes in the Stockport area.
In his first burglary, he took a woman's medication - including nearly 200 tablets and morphine patches - as well as pearly strings, pearl earrings, gold pendants and broaches; all while she was out walking.
The total value was estimated at around £3,000.
In one of his last burglaries, Collins took several First World War medals and a military OBE.
Police got some key evidence on Collins when they found a gardening glove at one of the burgled homes which contained some of his DNA.
He was subsequently arrested and investigative work mapped him to several of the locations at the time of the burglaries.
He was later charged with four of them, with a further six taken into consideration at sentencing after Collins admitted to them.
Collins was sentenced at Minshull Street Crown Court on Tuesday 24 February.
PC Lucy Ward, from Greater Manchester Police's Stockport Neighbourhood Crime Team, said: "Collins committed multiple burglaries in the Stockport area, helping himself to everything from expensive jewellery to family heirlooms. His brazen tactics of operating during the daytime show a clear disregard for people and their property.
"Following a thorough investigation, involving the DNA retrieval of a glove left at the scene by Collins, he admitted guilt and was charged with burglary offences.
"People should be able to feel safe within their own homes, and we will always investigate burglaries when they come into us. If you have any information or concerns about burglaries in your area, please do get in touch with us."
