Stockport man charged with racial harassment after protest outside hotel

A Stockport man has been charged with assault and harassment following a protest outside a hotel.

Karl Haydock, 35, of Offerton, has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker and racially aggravated harassment.

He appeared at Stockport Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 9 September.

The protest took place on Sunday 7 September outside a hotel in Fallowfield.

Police issued a dispersal order around the area - along Wilmslow Road - on the day.

A further seven arrests were made on the day - five others were bailed. Charges have since been secured against the two others:

  • Azeez Ibrahim Akin Kunmi (26/05/1997), of no fixed abode, has been charged with indecent exposure. He appeared at Stockport Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 9 September.
  • Robert Wood (04/12/1985), of St Mary's Road, Manchester has been charged with theft of a police hat and bailed for a future hearing.
