Stockport fire crews called to blaze in Poynton property

Fire crews were called to a blaze in the loft space of a property on Vernon Road, Poynton, in the early hours of Sunday 28 April. 

Residents of nearby properties were evacuated while the incident was dealt with. All persons were accounted for. 

Five engines attended the scene - one each from Stockport, Cheadle and Marple, plus one from Lymm and another from Macclesfield. 

In a statement, Cheshire Fire and Rescue service said: "Firefighters were called to a fire in a loft on Vernon Road in Poynton. 

"Breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and covering jets were used to extinguish the fire. All persons were accounted for and a number of neighbouring properties were evacuated while the incident was dealt with."
