Two teenagers arrested on suspicion of assault following Interchange incident

Two 14-year-old boys have been arrested on suspicion of assault following an incident at Stockport Interchange. 

A 65-year-old man is still in a critical condition following the incident, which took place around 9.45pm on Tuesday 23 April 2024.

Following an investigation - including a CCTV review - the two boys were arrested and remain in police custody for questioning. 

Detective Inspector Shifa Chowdhury said: "This was a horrific attack that has left the victim in hospital with serious injuries.

"Our enquiries have been swift since the incident including an extensive review of CCTV to identify and trace those we believe responsible.

"We'd also like to thank members of our community who have been in touch following our appeal with vital pieces of evidence.
