Stockport drivers are being advised to allow extra journey time around the town centre ahead of roadworks on a key town centre junction.

From Monday 19 October, works will be taking place at the junction of A6 and Railway Road, which will require a lane closure on the A6.

The work is expected to last around three weeks, and will also involve temporary traffic lights and localised lane closures.

Cadent Gas is behind the works, as they carry out utility diversion ahead of planned improvements for the junction.

Access to the station pick-up and drop-off area and nearby car parks will be maintained throughout.

"Please plan ahead and allow a little extra time if you're travelling through the area or heading to the station", Stockport Council said.
