A Christmas lights switch-on will take place in Edgeley today from 4-8pm, featuring two players from Stockport County.

Ethan Pye and Myles Hippolyte will switch on the lights at 5.30pm. And, further still, Santa Claus himself will make an appearance.

The event will take place near the Greek Street roundabout.

Also at the switch-on will be a silver band, fairground rides, and live music. Food and drink will also be available - doughnut stands, cake stalls, and a burger van.

In a similarly festive spirit, Edgeley will host a Christmas Market on Saturday 25 November, from 11am until 3pm.

The temporary market will host no less than 40 traders, offering food, Christmas decorations, gifts, and more.

The market is organised by Worker Bee Markets, which hosts similar events across Stockport. The organisation hand-picks its makers and traders 'bespoke for local communities'. In other words, priority is given mainly to traders who are local - from seasoned marketers to talented hobbyists.

Visitors can expect '[the] best artisan and local produce' and 'quality handmade goods'. Think Edgeley's temporary markets in May and August of this year, but with a festive twist!
