Vouchers with monetary value will be issued to eligible families this year to help combat the cost of energy.

Funded by the Department for Work and Pensions' Household Support Fund, the scheme offers vouchers towards the cost of energy to families:

  • In receipt of income-based free school meals (or equivalent early years eligibility) and/or
  • In receipt of local housing benefit and/or
  • In receipt of council tax support

Vouchers are worth £97.50 per eligible child. If eligible, residents will receive a letter or email between 12-18 July.

Vouchers can be redeemed at your local post office - the deadline for redeeming the vouchers is 10 August.

A further round of vouchers will be distributed in Autumn to the same amount, to cover the period up to the 2024 Easter holidays.

Councillor Jilly Julian, Cabinet member for finance and resources at Stockport Council, commented: "Against the backdrop of the cost-of-living crisis, we know that our family support vouchers scheme offers a lifeline to many families living in Stockport.

"The £97.50 is designed to provide support over the summer season, with families receiving another voucher in the autumn for the same amount. Make sure you don't miss out and redeem your voucher before the expiry date!"
