Rumour has it that legendary blues guitarist Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil at a crossroads, in return for his guitar skills.

The crossroad of Wellington Road South and Exchange Street may be slightly less mysterious, but you can nonetheless find a similar helping of fantastic blues music there at the Spinning Top / Garrick Theatre for this year's Blues Festival.

Returning for the fourth time this year, Stockport Blues Festival features over 30 acts, across two days and three stages. The festival runs from 21-22 September, and takes place across two adjoining venues, The Garrick and Spinning Top.

From the rich sound of the deep Mississippi Delta where the genre originated, through to classic rock and seductive Bonamassa-esque ballads, visitors can expect to find the full length and breadth of this one-of-a-kind genre which changed the course of music.

The full lineup for the event is as follows:

Saturday

The Hexmen / Franny Eubank Band / The Stockportugal Blues Experience / Steve Williams Most Wanted / Amanda Jane Heywood / Bridgewater Blues Band / The Blues Blasters / CF Boneslum / The Johnny Friendlies / Cajun Specials / Rare Breed / Mandy & The Angels / The Blues Society House Band

Sunday

Sandraiser / John W Doyle Band / Firebird Smith Blues Band / Paul Braddock Band / Cobalt Tales / Aziz Ibrahim Blues Band / Route 66 / The Tigermen / Ash Mountain / Mavis / Matt Fryers

There is also an acoustic stage on both days.

Doors open at 12pm on both days. Ticket prices are £28 for the weekend, or £18 for Saturday and £15 for Sunday. Find tickets HERE.
