Stockport-based charity St Ann's Hospice to rename this October

Stockport-based charity St Ann's Hospice will be renaming to Moya Cole Hospice from October 2025.
Moya Cole founded the Heald Green-based hospice in 1971, and also helped open a second St Ann's Hospice in Salford in 1979.
A St Ann's Hospice spokesperson said the name change aims to honour the 'trailblazing' work of the hospice founder, and added that it was 'not a decision taken lightly'.
St Ann's Hospice provides care to patients with life-limiting illnesses. The charity is currently constructing a brand new building in Heald Green to improve care.
The spokesperson added: "For us to continue to serve and care for those impacted by life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones long into the future, we must ensure that we are reflective of the wonderful and diverse community that surrounds us and that we remain culturally relevant in our modern world."
Peter O'Brien - chaplaincy support coordinator at St Ann's - said: "We may have changed our name to Moya Cole Hospice but with our modern new building, we aim to continue to provide what historically we have done since we first opened, that is first-class holistic care and compassion, in a health-care setting where we support the whole person as they attempt to come to terms with a life-limiting and life-threatening illness."
