Local charity St Ann's Hospice has launched a walking challenge to help raise money.

The Stockport-based charity is encouraging intrepid walkers to travel 100 miles on foot throughout September.

It can be done in your own time, and at your own pace - all you need to do is get sponsored and start raising some money.

It's free to register, and you'll also be sent a free walk 100 miles t-shirt. You can track your progress with other walkers in a dedicated Facebook group - find more information on registering and monitoring progress HERE.

St Ann's is based in Heald Green, and supports people across Greater Manchester who are affected by life-limiting illnesses.

Marie Foster, A Fundraiser at St Ann's Hospice, said: "This challenge is for everyone who loves walking and every mile you complete will make a real difference, the important thing is getting out and raising vital funds for St Ann's Hospice.

"We would love as many people as possible to join in and raise what you can to support the patients and families we care for."

Susan Davies is taking on the challenge and is excited to get started.

"I have experience of people I know needing support and comfort in their final days and I wanted to help St Ann's guarantee care and a pleasant environment for the patients and their extended family", she said.

"I walk a lot in my job but don't walk as much as I would like, so these challenges help me do more intentional walking.

"I did the last Walk 100 Miles in September in 2021 and I loved it! My favourite thing was getting out in the September weather and knowing that I was not only benefitting St Ann's but I was benefitting my own health as well. "
