Stockport art gallery to host open exhibition for 100-year anniversary

Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery is hosting an open exhibition this summer, to celebrate the building's 100th birthday.
Local artists are invited to submit works to be showcased.
The artworks will be shown on a first-come, first-served basis - artists are asked to submit one work which justifies inclusion in this special exhibition.
The exhibition will run between Sunday 22 June and Friday 22 August.
Submissions should be handed in between Thursday 12 June and Sunday 15 June.

And visitors will get the chance to vote for their favourite, with winners to be announced in August.
The art gallery itself will officially turn 100 in October 2025.
It was built with funds raised by the people of Stockport in honour of those who died in the First World War. It now commemorates those who died as a result of subsequent conflicts.
As well as its role as a war memorial, the gallery was also built as a creative space, and it has hosted a huge range of exhibitions in its long history.
