All the results are now in for the local elections in Stockport.

The biggest winners are the Lib Dems, who gained two key seats in Offerton and Davenport & Cale Green which put them in overall control of Stockport Council, with 34 out of 63 seats.

The party came away from the evening having won or held a total of 13 seats.

Labour sustained the most losses, losing seats to the Lib Dems, Reform and the Greens.

Indeed, Reform UK now has its first two councillors in Stockport, in Manor and Brinnington & Stockport Central.

The Greens also picked up an extra seat from Labour in Reddish North.

The Edgeley Community Association held their seat in Edgeley, and similarly the Independent Ratepayers kept hold of their seat in Heald Green.

There are 63 seats on Stockport Council, with 21 wards and three seats in each.

At this year's election, one seat in each ward was up for grabs.

  • Labour 2 (-5)

The Independent Ratepayers hold their Heald Green seat.

Cllr Anna Mary Charles-Jones holds the seat, with 1,780 votes.

Labour hold in Heatons South

A hold for Labour in their Heatons South seat.

Incumbent councillor Dean Fitzpatrick retains the seat, with 2,138 votes.

The Greens have held their seat in Reddish South.

Laura Smith of the Greens won with a comfortable 2,515 votes, taking on the seat from incumbent Green councillor Gary Lawson.

Greens take Reddish North from Labour

A big win for the Greens who take the Reddish North seat from Labour.

David White of the Green Party won with 1,588 votes.

  • Karl Seppman (Conservative) - 185
  • Heather Lauren Smith (Lib Dem) - 179

Labour hold Heatons North in first win of the night

Heatons North is remaining a Labour seat, in a close-run contest with the Greens.

Labour candidate Jo Williams holds the seat for Labour with a 101-vote majority.

  • Timothy Cho (Conservative) -584
  • Alex Hartley (Lib Dem) - 409
  • Helene Julia Mellish (Green) - 1,613
  • Jo Williams (Labour) - 1,714
  • John Dennis Wilson (Reform UK) - 840

Lib Dems retain Cheadle East & Cheadle Hulme North

Another Lib Dem hold in Cheadle East & Cheadle Hulme North, with Cllr Jilly Julian remaining the incumbent councillor.

She won with a comfortable 2,105 votes.

  • Jilly Julian (Lib Dem) - 2,105

Labour lose to Reform UK in Manor

Reform UK pick up their second seat on Stockport Council, winning Manor from Labour.

Brian John Battle was elected with 1,521 votes.

Another Labour loss to the Lib Dems this evening, in Marple South & High Lane.

Lib Dem candidate Dominic Warner takes the seat, with 2,267 votes.

  • Rebecca Hurst (Green) - 593
  • Carl Rydings (Reform UK) - 1,214

Lib Dems retain Cheadle West & Gatley

The Lib Dems continue to retain their incumbent seats, with another win in Cheadle West & Gatley.

Incumbent councillor Ian Hunter retains the seat, with 2,299 votes.
