St James' Catholic High School is in the running for a prestigious regional award.

The school, based in Cheadle Hulme, has been shortlisted at the Educate Awards in the outstanding SEND provision category.

The Educate Awards aims to recognise excellence in education across the North West, and describes itself as 'the talk of the region'.

St James' High was recognised by the nomination panel for its 'teach the child, not the class' approach, and its treatment of students with 'dignity, belonging and independence'.

The school's approach to helping SEND students get 'fully involved' in school life is also being recognised - particular St James' approach to activities such as inclusive sport, productions, the Duke of Edinburgh Award, and the Lourdes pilgrimage.

The shortlisted school will discover if it is a winner on Friday 13 November, at a glittering awards ceremony in Liverpool Cathedral.

The Educate Awards - now in its fifteenth year - features 21 categories which recognise every aspect of education, including exceptional teachers.
