St James' Catholic High School in Cheadle Hulme is celebrating a positive Ofsted report following an inspection in April this year.
Under the inspectorate's new grading system, the school was deemed 'strong' in one area, and of 'expected standard' in six others.
Ofsted's new system has done away with short summaries like 'outstanding' and 'good', and now assesses schools across seven categories, with each being given a grade.
There are five graded tiers, from top to bottom: exceptional; strong standard; expected standard; needs attention; and urgent improvement.
Of strong standard at St James' RC High School was personal development and wellbeing.
Of expected standard were: achievement; attendance and behaviour; curriculum and teaching; early years; inclusion; and leadership and governance.
Inspectors found that there is a strong programme of personal development at the school, helping students learn about things like safety, relationships, self-worth, and more.
They also found that pupils were "generally well prepared for their next steps in education, employment or training", and that there was a 'well-planned' curriculum in place.
Behaviour was praised, with pupils found to treat each other with respect.
Attendance was also praised for being above the national average.
Leaders were found to identify pupils' needs quickly, and that they and the governors generally were 'united in their vision'.
"There is a strong sense of belonging within this Catholic school community", the Ofsted report said.
"Pupils are happy and benefit from positive relationships with staff. They demonstrate the school's values of family, faith and excellence."
Mr Anthony Pontifex, headteacher at St James', said the report was a highlight of the academic year.
"I was incredibly proud of the way our children, staff and wider school community came together to showcase all that makes St James' such a special place", Mr Pontifex said.
"The inspection recognised the strength of our school, the high expectations we have for every child and the caring, inclusive environment that enables our children to flourish academically, spiritually and personally.
"This achievement reflects the dedication of our staff, the support of our governors and, importantly, the trust and partnership we enjoy with you, our parents and carers.
"Thank you for the encouragement and support you continue to give our school."
