St George's Primary School in Heaviley has started a fundraiser to help gather money to improve their facilities.

Specifically, the fundraiser aims to pay for new equipment for the school's early years garden.

The garden was built in 2022 following funding from the Chester Diocese - now the school is looking for equipment and resources to make the garden that bit better!

Mrs Claire Wardle, reception teacher, is organising the fundraiser.

It has garnered £300 so far, having started only recently. The target is to raise £5,000.

Claire said: "Education is not just about lessons within the four walls of a classroom. The outdoor environment encourages skills such as problem solving and negotiating risk which are important for child development.

"To support the children's learning and experiences further, we are fundraising to enable us to buy a range of equipment/resources to enhance our provision.

"This could be large construction equipment, equipment to develop gross motor skills and other different equipment to allow the children to have first hand experiences of working and learning in the world around them."
