Last week the patients and staff of Stockport-based charity St Ann's Hospice were visited by the Salford Red Devils.

Mark Sneyd and two new signings Cade Cust and Joe Shorrocks called at the hospice. A spokesperson for St Ann's said: "The patients were so grateful to meet the three players, as they took the time to talk to patients and staff and their warmth, friendliness and kindness really meant a lot to everyone who met them."

The visit aimed to help raise awareness for the work St Ann's Hospice does. Based in Heald Green, St Ann's is currently raising money for a new hospice building to replace its old Victorian one.

Heather Bennet, In-Memory and Legacy Fundraiser, said: "The relationship between St Ann's Hospice and Salford Red Devils is so important in highlighting what community support really means.

"We are so grateful to Salford Red Devils for continuing to think of us and being there for us, helping raising awareness of what we do. We are looking forward to watching this relationship continue to grow."

Managing Director of Salford Red Devils, Paul King, says: "Our St Ann's Hospice 'takeover day' last season was a huge success and the perfect way to recognise the incredible services the charity provides.

"I know Christmas is a busy period for the staff, so hopefully the mince pies and mulled wine were a welcome boost.

"As always, it was great to see our players in attendance and I encourage anyone to see how they can help with their ongoing Christmas appeal!"
