Mercury Climbing Foodie Friday | Stockport Market Place & Great Underbank | Fri 25 September | 6-9pm

It's official! Stockport Foodie Friday has been crowned the 'Best Street Food Event' in the entire UK at the 2026 British Street Food Awards!

If you haven't been, why not put Friday 25th September in your diary and come along to see what makes this town-centre event so special.

For September, Stockport Foodie Friday are teaming up with their friends at Mercury Climbing Music Festival to bring you Foodie Friday with a Festival feel so get your bucket hats and band T-shirts at the ready!

Mercury Climbing Festival takes place 17th - 26th September in Stockport and brings you some brilliant live music in St Mary's Church including The Twilight Sad, BC Camplight, Badly Drawn Boy, The Lovely Eggs, The Orielles , Apollo Junction and Tim Burgess' legendary Merch Market in Stockport Market.

Join us on Friday 25th September from 6pm for another stellar line of street food legends in Stockport Market Place and street food and live entertainment on Great Underbank.

As usual we will have a great line-up of performers in the Market Hall - including singers Ethan Bouchier, Alex Lees and headliners Blind Tiger bringing the party vibes with their classic covers.

Foodie Friday headline sponsors are CDL Software and Robinsons Brewery and their supporting venues are Bakers Vaults, Thread, Angel Inn, Calverts Court, The Cocked Hat, The Good Rebel, The White Lion, The Underbank and Alfredo's Social, who all contribute to make the event safe and secure for visitors.

Reddish Day | Houldsworth Arms, 1 Broadstone Road | Sat 26 September | 11am-3pm

Next up in Reddish is a celebration of all that's great about the friendly, accessible Reddish community. Alongside the only handmade market in Reddish as there's #NoMoreMarketsAtThe Mill many local businesses and community resources will be putting on activities and welcoming you all to participate.

Happenings Include a Worker Bee Market Hub at the Houldsworth Arms, MacMillan Coffee Morning at Reddish South Station, a free sock knitting workshop at Knit2Tog, a clothing sale at Re:Dish and a stacked cake shed at Fatal Bakehouse.

Mentor training - Pure Insight | Sat 26 September - 3 October

Stockport charity Pure Insight is recruiting volunteer mentors for our next training cohort.

Come and learn about the challenges young people leaving foster care and childrens' homes face as they start the challenges of adult life - education, employment, housing, budgeting and relationships with little support.

Then take this new knowledge and be matched with a young person as a 1:1 mentor, to support them as a trusted mentor to both tackle the tricky bits, and celebrate the wins together!

The training is 24 hrs, over 2 x 6hr taught sessions in Knutsford and further area specific training and connection with our local team in Stockport, including at our cafes in SK1.

Move A Mile | Locations throughout Stockport town centre | Sun 27 September | 11am-4pm

Stockport is set for a free street party with an interesting twist this month.

Move a Mile, taking place on Sunday 27 September from 11am-4pm, will feature a mile-long trail of different activities and performances, suitable for visitors of all ages.

Visitors can expect live music, break-dancing, street performances, painting workshops, skateboarding, and more - all staggered in a trail stretching through the heart of Stockport.

The route runs from Canal Street, through Stockport Underbanks, then along Great Underbank to Mersey Square.

After that, it goes past the Interchange, under the Viaduct, and past the bus depot before finishing up at Kingston Street.

It's being put together by The Coping (an events company) and GRIT Studios, the art studio behind projects such as Art Battle and La Boca to La Stocka.

The organisers promise "A one-mile celebration of creativity, community and wellbeing".

"It's a free, family-friendly festival inviting people of all ages to explore a vibrant one-mile trail packed with creativity, culture and fun", a spokesperson said.

This also includes a special artistic events: visitors can get up close to the brand-new Honda Super-N, while enjoying live artwork from local artist Dave Draws, who will be creating a unique map of Stockport directly onto the car during the event.

It's a chance to enjoy something a little different in the heart of Stockport, bringing together cars, creativity and the local community.
