A Stockport Nub News sponsor has fundraised £1,283 for a local homeless charity.

Online prize draw operator High Peak Comps, established in Buxton in 2020, raised the four-figure sum for The Wellspring Stockport.

They achieved this by running the Manchester 10k, donating £500 from High Peak Comps itself.

Buxton resident and High Peak Comps owner Charles Edwards said: "Not only were we mad enough to have four-fifths of our workforce take on the Manchester 10k, but we also did it just hours after our joint-largest ever prize draw of £100,000."

"We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who liked, shared, commented and of course donated to our fundraiser for The Wellspring Stockport. £1283 is an incredible amount.

"We really enjoyed the run, we ran it together as a foursome and did it in one hour three minutes.

"The Wellspring are an amazing charity to fundraise for. Thanks to their team and of course all of you once more for your support."

The Stockport charity had 150 runners taking on the 10k or half-marathon for them.

While the final total is yet to be totted up, that hasn't stopped the elation of The Wellspring Manager Alex Knight.

"We were absolutely delighted to have High Peak Comps taking part and raising an incredible £1283 for us", said Alex.

"Every pound raised makes a real difference to the work we do, and seeing people get behind us in this way is incredibly encouraging.

"The day itself was fantastic. There was a brilliant atmosphere from start to finish, with runners, volunteers and supporters all coming together to create something really special.

"Events like these are about much more than crossing a finish line, they're about communities rallying around causes they care about.

"Fundraising through challenges such as the 10k and half-marathon is what keeps us going. It allows us to continue delivering vital support and services throughout the year, and we simply couldn't do it without the generosity and commitment of people like the team at High Peak Comps.

"We'd like to thank everyone who took part, donated and cheered the runners on."

The Wellspring provides support to those or homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, alongside this they offer a twice daily food service, access to showers, clothes and other practical resources.

They also offer an on-site medical service, physical activities, plus a place to feel safe and belonging. The Wellspring is open 365 days a year.

High Peak Comps has enjoyed the experience so much that they are set to fundraise for another Stockport charity in the second half of 2026, being a fundraiser for Stockport Signpost for Carers.

The company, which offers prizes to win in low-odds competitions such as cash and tech, has given back at the core of its values with over £120,000 given to good causes in 2025.

Prize draws are held every day, with winners being announced on the High Peak Comps Facebook page in interactive live draws.

Upcoming online prize draws you can enter at High Peak Comps include an Apple-themed instant win and a draw to win a games console or £400.

There is also an online prize draw to win £10,000 from just 2p per ticket.

High Peak Comps also recently installed a defibrillator in Heaton Moor Stockport, as detailed in this Stockport Nub News article.
