There are lots of events taking place in and around Stockport over the next few days!

Thursday sees a night of Stockport Comedy Club at Thread in Market Place, priming us all for Friday with a few laughs.

From Friday through to Sunday is the Poynton Beer Festival, featuring activities, live music, and of course, beer.

It's a busy day on Saturday, with a rescheduled street party, a Worker Bee Market at Broadstone Mill in Reddish, and a performance from Johns' Boys at Stockport Plaza - one of the most decorated male choirs in the UK.

And rounding off the weekend on Sunday is more laughs - this time at Heatons Comedy Club for their regular comedy evening.

A Laugh in Stockport Comedy Club | Thread | Thursday 29 August | 7.15pm (doors) - acts from 7.45pm

Enjoy an evening of stand-up comedy with Danny Deegan, Kate McCabe, Dom Hatton-Woods and 80s Luke (MC) at Thread in Stockport's Market Place.

Poynton Beer Festival | Poynton Sports Club | Friday 30 August - Sun 1 September

Poynton Beer Festival heads to Poynton Sports Club, and runs throughout the entire weekend! Expect live music, family activities, and of course, beer!

Daytime entry is free. Bands will be on for Friday and Saturday evenings, which will be ticketed. Unfortunately, tickets for Saturday evening have sold out, but you can still find Friday evening tickets. See HERE.

The lineup on Friday includes Monkey Harris, Recover, and A Hundred Endings.

A description for this event reads: "A unique village experience under the marquee, offering incredible music, huge variety of beer and lots of activities for the kids.

"Daytime is free entry, then come the evening enjoy the festival experience with a fantastic line up of bands."

Worker Bee Market | Broadstone Mill, Reddish | Sat 31 August | 11am-3pm

The market returns to Broadstone Mill on Saturday 31 August, from 11am-3pm.

Catch a wide range of traders - almost 50 in total, many of them local, and some appearing at the market for the first time.

A description for this event reads: "Come for lunch, including Asian Streetfood snacks, freshly cooked burgers and Turkish gozleme.

"Enjoy a Rochdale-brewed beer or a coffee while you browse the stalls of homemade foods and handmade crafts, gifts, jewellery, homeware and much much more."

Secret Street Party (rescheduled) | Little Underbank | Sat 31 August | 12-4pm

On Saturday 31 August from 12-4pm, Little Underbank will host a rescheduled street party, featuring live music, DJs, free activities, trading stalls, and more. 

Entry is free, and the event is family-friendly. 

What's more, the shops along the Underbanks will be open as usual.

It will be the third annual iteration of these 'secret' street parties, and this one aims to be as much of a success as its predecessors. 

A Stockport Council spokesperson said: "Stockport's Secret Street Party is a wonderful opportunity to support local businesses, get involved in arts and cultural activities, and most importantly have fun.

"You won't want to miss this!"

Johns' Boys Welsh Choir | Stockport Plaza | Sat 31 August | 7.30pm

One of the most decorated British male choirs in history will perform at Stockport Plaza this summer.

The choir have gathered millions of new followers since appearing on the live shows of Britain's Got Talent, and were described by Simon Cowell as "brilliant". "I love them", he said.

Their audition song ' Biblical' originally sung by Calum Scott has had over 24 million views world wide and when released on iTunes went straight to number 1 in the Classical Charts.  

The choir are currently on a UK 2024 Tour. They are in great demand and have already performed in The Hammersmith Apollo, The Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, and the Millennium Theatre Cardiff.

The choir regularly sings in the Principality Stadium for Welsh Rugby Union for home international games

The choir are currently on a UK Tour and will perform at The Plaza in Stockport on Saturday August 31st 7.30pm. 

Appearing with them will be classical crossover artist Gruffydd Wyn who was a finalist on 'Britain's Got Talent', where he received Amanda Holden's Golden Buzzer and narrowly missed out on a place on the podium.

Heatons Comedy Evening | Heatons Sports Club | Sunday 1 September | 7.45-10pm

Comedy night returns to Heatons Sports Club. This edition takes place on Sunday 1 September, and features Josh Jones, Lou Conran, Doug Carter and MC Brennan Reece.
