Four men are set to appear in court next over forced labour charges connected to a shop in Cheadle Hulme.

Zerkenan Mahmood, 31, of New Road in Featherstone; Husnain Mahmood, 36, of Linden Bank Hostel on 40 London Road in Sandbach; Quiaser Mahmood, 40, of Worcester Road in Cheadle Hulme; and Farakh Hussain, 47, of Belvedere Avenue in Reddish, are on court bail after being charged, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

Quiaser Mahmood, Husnain Mahmood and Zerkenan Mahmood have also been charged with involvement in supplying Class A and B drugs. They are due to appear at Minshull Street Crown Court on September 12.

The allegations are linked to a Cheadle Hulme shop which lost its premises licence after an application to Stockport council from GMP.

Da Shop, on 15 to 19 Worcester Road, had its licence revoked in full by the council's licensing subcommittee during a town hall meeting on August 13, which took place behind closed doors.

Minutes from the licensing meeting stated: "On the evidence before them, the sub committee had no faith that the management of the premises could be run responsibly and in accordance with the licensing objectives, given the number of irresponsible decisions made by the premise licence holder.

A spokesperson for Stockport council said: "Following a review called by GMP, the council's Licensing, Environment and Safety subcommittee decided to revoke the premises licence of DA Shop, in view of the concerns raised by both GMP and Public Health."

The licence allowed the business to sell alcohol off-site from Monday to Sunday, and provide late night refreshments outdoors from Monday to Sunday between 11pm and 5am.
