Seven arrests have been made in Brinnington following a section 60 order - which gives officers extended power to stop and search individuals.
The section 60 was in place from 11am on Monday 10 July, and lasted for 24 hours until Tuesday 11 July.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) states: "The order was put in place due to several reports of disorder in Brinnington over the weekend." A statement from GMP on Monday suggested that these incidents involved weapons.
Seven individuals between the ages of 16 and 37 were arrested on suspicion of offences including aggravated burglary and assault.
GMP has said enquiries are currently ongoing to identify any further individuals who may have been involved in the incidents.
It comes just weeks after a dispersal order was put in place for Brinnington following reports of anti-social behaviour, as officers were called several times to Brinnington on Monday 26 June to disrupt gangs of youths.
Detective Inspector Gareth Beasley, from GMP's Stockport district, said of the arrests: "The s60 order was put in place in response to reports we received over the weekend. We always take reports of violent crime very seriously, and I hope that these arrests show that we are determined to keep our community safe.
"Our investigations are ongoing with a view to bringing those responsible to justice and we are continuing with high visibility patrols to reassure local residents."
GMP adds: "If you have any concerns, or information in relation to these incidents, or if you wish to report a crime you can contact police online via www.gmp.police.uk or by calling 101. Always dial 999 in an emergency.
"Details can be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
