The Stockport frogs art trail is back this summer, under the name of 'Stockport's Great Frogtasic Inventions Trail'. It will run from 21 July to 29 September.

As usual, this free outdoor trail will see a number of frog sculptures, each painted by a local artist, scattered around the town centre for people of all ages to discover.

This year the theme is inventions, with each of the 19 frogs representing an invention from history - from the wheel to the slinky, and from the printing press to the iPod.

Entry is free, so prospective explorers need only pick up a map and begin their search. Maps will soon be available to pick up from town centre shops, and will also be downloadable online on the Totally Stockport website HERE.

There is a prize up for grabs for anyone who can find Minty the frog - pictured on the aforementioned website - and guess how many coins he is sporting.

Totally Stockport described the event as "an educational, engaging and vibrant outdoor art trail attracting thousands of people from across the region", adding: "People from all ages and backgrounds, from businesses, schools and community groups will once again be attracted to discover the trail and explore the town centre to seek out all the fantastic frogs."

This is Stockport's third frog trail, with others running in 2019 and 2021.

The organisers of 'Giant Leaps', Stockport's first frog trail, said: "Working closely with the Totally Stockport team from the very beginning, we developed the idea for the family friendly trail to encourage local people of all ages back into the town centre, help them rediscover Stockport and instil a sense of pride in the 'Giant Leaps' forward happening all around them."

The 2019 trail increased footfall in the town centre by 35%, and together with 2021's trail garnered £60,000 for charity. Both attracted thousands of visitors, both locally and from across the UK.

So, keep your eyes peeled (and bring a magnifying glass for the additional frogs hidden in shop windows) and prepare to go frog hunting!
