A bookshop in Romiley will be hosting two exciting author talks this month.

Serenity Booksellers, in Romiley Precinct, will be hosting Sue Cleaver and Andy Spinoza in two separate talks detailing their new books.

Sue - best known for playing Eileen Grimshaw in Coronation Street - will be visiting Romiley on Saturday 5 October to discuss 'A Work in Progress', her new autobiography.

"I'm not past my prime - and neither are you!", says Sue in this memoir. Aimed at those middle-aged woman who feel "newly invisible, silenced, underestimated or diminished", the book shares Sue's experiences, life stories, and offers advice on realising one's potential at this stage in life.

"From knowing our worth, looking ahead with excitement and possibility, and realising that we still have so much to give and enjoy, this is a book that will change lives", says Sue.

The talk takes place at St Paul's Church, and starts from 7pm.

The following Thursday (10 October), Andy Spinoza will also be hosting a talk - this time discussing his book 'Manchester Unspun: How a City Got High on Music'.

The book aims to "sort the truth from the spin of the city's stories to reveal a remarkable journey". It chronicles "hubris, scandal, money and politics", shot through with Andy's personal experience from his time in the Manchester music scene.

Andy will be speaking with Serenity Books' co-owner, Chris Willocks, in what is sure to be a night as cosy as it is fascinating. The talk takes place in the bookshop itself, from 6pm.

Tickets for either event can be found HERE.

Serenity Books is an independent bookshop run by couple Chris and Kelly Willocks. As well as events such as this, the shop specialises in a wide range of books, plus gifts, arts and crafts, and more.

Kelly, who moved to Stockport from Australia in 2016, said: "I love Greater Manchester and have been intrigued and in awe of the music scene and so many wonderful actors and entertainment talent that has emanated from this fabulous city of ours.

"To be able to celebrate this with authors that share similar views is a dream come true."
