Stockport's very own Robinsons Brewery has designed a new ale trail around Marple, featuring seven pubs.

The trail starts at Marple railway station, and ends at Rose Hill railway station.

The new route was tried and tested by members of the Robinsons team, who said: "it's doable, and lots of fun!"

The full itinerary, from start to end, is as follows:

  • The Windsor Castle
  • The Royal Scot
  • The Navigation
  • The Ring O' Bells
  • The Bull's Head
  • The Hatter's Arms
  • The Railway

The first stop is The Windsor Castle, a short sojourn from Marple station - it is described as a 'pretty stone-faced pub', 'traditional' in character.

Next is The Royal Scot, a more modern pub, with craft beers on draught and a range of food options.

After that is the recently-refurbished Navigation, which re-opened in December 2023. All rooms throughout the pub have been 'spruced up', including a local bar, bar lounge, main bar trading space, and another intimate room at the back, complete with a cosy log burner.

Fourth on the list is The Ring O' Bells, a lovely canalside spot, filled with cosy corners and nooks.

A five minute stroll from here is the The Bull's Head, the fifth stop. This is a modern open-plan pub, well-known for its wide range of food and drink.

Number six is the Hatters Arms, a quaint, cosy little pub with low-ceilings and a cosy atmosphere.

And finally, finishing up the trail is The Railway, a grand old pub with traditional brass and dark mahogany decor.
