Retro train to call at Stockport railway station this summer

An impressive historic train will be calling at Stockport railway station this summer.
On 30 August 2025, the 'Retro Norfolk Broadsman' will call at Stockport on its way to Norwich and Great Yarmouth. It will be passing through around 6.40am.
Further still, the train will also call at Reddish South around 6.50am.
From there, it will progress to Denton, Stalybridge, Brighouse and Wakefield Kirkgate, before making for the south east on a scenic trip.
The train itself will be a 1970s Intercity 125 High Speed Train.
Rail historians and enthusiasts consider these trains to be be among the most successful models to have operated on the British railway network.

It wasn't until 2017 that they started being removed from the railways.
The rail trip on 30 August will also comprise comfortable MK3 coaches, and there will even be a real ale bar on board, serving a variety of hand-pumped real ales, wines, and hot snacks.
When the train arrives in Norwich, passengers will have the option of hopping off at Norwich for around five hours. Or, they can stay on the train as it continues to Great Yarmouth, and spend around three hours in this famous seaside town.
It will return to Stockport at 8.55pm, and Reddish South at 9.10pm.
The trip has already proved popular, with first class seats all sold out.
However, standard class seats are still available, at £111 for adults and £91 for children.
