A new fully-electric bus depot is planned for Stockport.

The depot, which would be based on the former Lex Autolease site on Heathside Park Road, would provide space for 200 electric buses, plus areas for repairs and servicing.

The existing Daw Bank depot would be demolished to make way for new shops and homes.

Residents are now being asked for their feedback on the proposals.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), which is behind the plans, is hosting a drop-in session where residents can view the plans and ask questions.

Representatives from TfGM and the design team (from Arcadis) will be on hand on Thursday 9 July, 4.30pm-7pm, at the Rose Walker Community Centre, Essex Ave, Cheadle Heath, Stockport SK3 0JA. Parking is available at the centre.

You can also get in touch at via email at [email protected].

TfGM is looking to submit full, detailed plans for the building this summer.

Subject to planning permission, construction would start in 2027 with a view to finishing by 2029.

In the meantime, temporary bus depots would be set up at Heaton Lane and Wood Street (the former Lundy site).

Construction of these temporary sites is due to start this summer, and work set to be completed by the winter.
