Residents affected by January floods invited to Stockport Council 'engagement' sessions

Stockport Council is hosting 'flood engagement sessions' for residents affected by the floods in January 2025.
Information, advice and assistance will be provided in the sessions.
There are three taking place across the borough, each running from 3pm-7pm.
- The first takes place on Wednesday 9 April at Trinity Church in Cheadle.
- The second takes place on Wednesday 14 May at Gatley Hill House Community Centre in Gatley.
- And the third and final session takes place on Thursday 12 June at the Merseyway Innovation Centre in Stockport town centre.
"Residents affected are invited to attend the sessions and speak to council officers and partners", a council spokesperson said.
Heavy rain from 31 December 2024 to 1 January 2025 caused severe flooding around the borough.
Shops were forced to close, and residents were evacuated from their homes.
Some, including those at Meadow Mill near Portwood Roundabout, had to vacate their homes for weeks; they were left without power after water poured into the the ground floor of the building.
