Reddish South railway station has been revealed to be one of the quietest in the UK.
That's according to new figures revealed by the Office of Rail and Road, which have shown that there were only 102 entries and exits at the station between April 2024 and March 2025.
The only stations with fewer passengers were Denton (number one with only 100 entries and exits), Ince & Elton in Cheshire (98 entries and exits), Shippea Hill in Cambridgeshire (76), and Elton & Orston in Nottinghamshire (68)
For comparison, in the same period, Stockport had around 4.3 million entries and exits.
There has been a station at Reddish South since 1849. In the 19th century, it was a busy station with two island platforms - however, in May 1899, services were redirected to Manchester Piccadilly (or London Road as it was at the time).
From the decades thereafter, the station became quieter - particularly in 1989, when most services to and from Leeds were diverted to serve Manchester Piccadilly rather than Victoria.
Still, although there a mere two entries and exits per week on average, the line is still used frequently by freight trains.
Across Stockport more generally, the second most-used station is Cheadle Hulme, and third is Heaton Chapel. The full list is as follows:
