Three play areas across Reddish are set to be 'transformed' with £240,000 in improvements.

Houldsworth Park, South Reddish Park and Unity Park will each receive £80,000 from the the UK Government's Pride in Place programme to help build a set of new 'accessible and inclusive' play spaces.

The changes will include a range of new equipment for children of all ages.

Reddish residents will also be consulted on the plans, so local families will be able to shape the selection and design of the new play areas.

Stockport Council secured the government funding for these improvements through a grant application - it follows on from similar park improvements at Woodbank Park and Alexandra Park in Edgeley.

Cllr Grace Baynham, cabinet member for parks, highways and transport services, said: "Every child should have access to a safe, welcoming and enjoyable place to play outdoors.

"These proposals would bring significant investment into Reddish and help us provide better play opportunities for children of different ages and abilities.

"Local children, families and community groups know these parks best, so their views are central to shaping the improvements at each site.
