Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has announced that a property in Shaw Heath has been seized, after police executed a warrant in the Shaw Heath area of Stockport under the misuse of drugs act.

The search took place in the early hours of Monday 25 September. Items seized included drugs paraphernalia and documents.

Shortly after the warrant, police arrested a man involved in an unrelated incident - the man had been wanted by police and was spotted by a partner agency around Victoria Park.

During the arrest, an officer was assaulted by the offender as he 'attempted to evade arrest'.

The 26-year-old man was ultimately arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker, 12 counts of theft and recall to prison.

He was remanded in custody to attend Tameside Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning (27 September).

Inspector John Picton of the Stockport Central Neighbourhood Team said: "This is more excellent work by the Stockport Police Teams. We will be executing further warrants across Stockport over the coming weeks.

"The Stockport Division continues to proactively deal with offenders, ensuring they are put before the courts."
