Progress on the development of 73 homes on King Street West continues, with completion expected by Spring 2025.
It comes as Cllr Colin MacAlister - regeneration lead at Stockport Council - visited the site, alongside Paul Richards (CEO of Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation) and Matthew Harrison (CEO of Great Places).
The £16.4m site is described as an affordable development, and is being built in conjunction with another 144-home site just down the road at Chestergate.
The development sits in the centre of the 'Town Centre West regeneration area', which is expected to form a 'new gateway' in the town centre with 3,500 homes and more than a million square feet of commercial space.
On his visit, Cllr Macalister said: "On the back of the news that the Sunday Times has made Stockport the best place to live in the North West, this development will be of real benefit for those wanting to live in our borough."
"It's not just us saying we're one of the most exciting towns around, it's coming from respected people from across the country.
"It was great to see the progress made so far on site, and I'm really looking forward to coming back and visiting the development once it has been completed."
The King Street West development was built on the site of a former car wash, and is partly funded by Homes England.
The new site is expected to feature 73 one and two-bed apartments, which will be available to buy through Rent to Buy tenure.
As Great Places chief executive Matthew Harrison said: "Our plans have carefully considered how these homes will contribute to the long-term development of a resilient and vibrant new community, benefitting from all the town centre attractions whilst adding to its wider sustainability."
